Changelog

When a Gulf labour law changes, updating these calculators is the work — so we log it here rather than quietly editing a number. Dates are real verification dates, not freshness theatre.

14 June 2026

Launch — all six GCC countries verified

Every calculator verified against its current labour law, with the article and verification date shown on each page. Covers the UAE (Decree-Law 33/2021), Saudi Arabia (Labor Law M/51), Qatar (Law 14/2004), Kuwait (Law 6/2010), Bahrain (Law 36/2012 + Edict 109/2023) and Oman (Royal Decree 53/2023).

Incorporated at launch

Bahrain — SIO funding (from 1 March 2024)

Bahrain's shift to monthly SIO contributions for expatriate end-of-service is built into the calculator as a two-period split: the employer-paid old formula before the date, the SIO-funded period after.

Incorporated at launch

Oman — rate rise to one month per year (from 31 July 2023)

Royal Decree 53/2023 raised Oman's gratuity to a full month per year. The calculator splits service across the date, applying the old 15-day/one-month formula before and the new flat rate after.

Incorporated at launch

UAE — the 2021 law, not the 1980 one

We calculate under Federal Decree-Law 33/2021: resignation no longer reduces gratuity, and Article 44 dismissal no longer forfeits it. Calculators still using 'limited vs unlimited contracts' are applying a repealed law.

On the radar

19 July 2027

Oman's Social Protection Fund savings system (employer 9% of basic salary) is scheduled to replace direct gratuity. We'll update the Oman calculator when it takes effect.
