How notice pay works (Article 43)

Either side can end an employment contract by giving written notice of between 30 and 90 days, as set in the contract. If the notice isn't served — you leave early, or your employer ends it immediately — the party at fault pays the other the wage for the notice period (or the unserved part of it). That's "pay in lieu of notice".

Unlike gratuity and leave encashment, notice pay is calculated on your full wage — your most recent total salary including allowances. Your daily rate is the full monthly salary divided by 30, times the notice days. So on AED 15,000 over 30 days: AED 500 a day × 30 = AED 15,000.

Is notice pay on basic or full salary?

Pay in lieu of notice is calculated on your full wage — your most recent total salary, not just basic. That's different from gratuity and leave encashment, which use basic only.

What is pay in lieu of notice?
